Lifeguard - Fins Up Waterpark (Part Time)

Buford, GA

SUMMARY    Responsible for the general supervision and safety of guests in the beach and waterpark by preventing and responding to emergencies.  Lifeguards should be good swimmers who are able to pass lifeguard certification with the National Aquatic Safety Company.   Lifeguards also oversee the cleanliness of the beach and pool areas, conduct, and prevent water rescues, and assist in controlling unruly guest situations. Lifeguards should have great written and verbal skills and be safety conscious.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Understand and maintain basic first aid, rescue techniques, and CPR
  • Maintain constant surveillance of guests in the pools and water attractions
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as certification requires until Emergency Medical Services arrives
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  • Enforce all rules with the public
  • Rotates appropriately and efficiently
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures
  • Store rescue equipment properly at the end of each day
  • Attend mandatory in-service training throughout the summer season
  • Prepare and maintain written reports and logs about job related activities
  • Clean and maintain the beach and pool areas
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Must act calm under pressure and when emergency situations occur
  • Perform any additional related tasks as required

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but has the potential for growth.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Ability to pass the National Aquatic Safety Company lifeguard training course
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, not easily distracted, and a commitment to safety
  • Requires a positive, friendly, and customer service driven attitude
  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Must be able to swim 200 yards and retrieve a 10-pound brick from an 8-foot-deep pool bottom and swim 15 feet with the brick above your head.
  • Available to work weekends and holidays

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 16 years of age and able to pass the National Aquatic Safety Company lifeguard training course class that we offer.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence and complete reports detailing rescues and guest interactions. Ability to effectively present information and give directions with customers and employees.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in both written and verbal form.  Ability to deal with problems involving many variables.
